#1 A closed signature formula for the Katz-Long-Moody Hermitian form [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Author: Haru Negami

The Katz-Long-Moody construction associates to a representation of the semidirect product of a free group and a braid group, defined by the Artin action, and a nonzero parameter a new representation of the same group. On the pure braid group it corresponds to Haraoka's multiplicative middle convolution for KZ-type equations. For unitary input and a convolution parameter on the unit circle other than one, the construction equips the quotient representation with a canonical non-degenerate invariant Hermitian form. We give a closed formula for its signature in terms of the eigenangles of the input local monodromies, the eigenangles of their ordered product, and the convolution parameter. The formula accounts for the kernel of the form before passage to the quotient and for signature changes at resonant parameters. It determines precisely when the induced form is definite, answering the definiteness problem posed in the companion paper. Definiteness implies unitarizability of the output representation; the converse holds when that representation is irreducible. The proof uses elementary linear algebra: a determinant identity, explicit block-pivot formulas, and an inertia formula for sums of Cayley transforms of unitary matrices. As applications, we compare the rank-one construction explicitly with Haraoka's invariant form for Pochhammer systems, recover the Gauss case of the Beukers-Heckman interlacing criterion, and determine the definite parameter intervals for the Hecke and Temperley-Lieb specializations.

#2 On asymptotic expansions of the density of states for Poisson distributed random Schrödinger operators [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Jan Fischer, David Hasler, Jannis Koberstein

We study a random Schrödinger operator with a potential distributed according to a Poisson process. Asymptotic expansions for traces of resolvents in the limit of small disorder are derived. Explicit estimates for the expansion coefficients are given and we show that their infinite volume limits are finite as the spectral parameter approaches the spectrum of the free Laplacian. As an application we derive bounds on the integrated density of states.

#3 A proof of the Hodge universality conjecture at nonzero dispersion [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Author: Francisco Hernández Iglesias

We prove that a scalar tau-symmetric Hamiltonian deformation of the Riemann hierarchy in generalized standard form is uniquely determined by the nonzero coefficient of $u_x^2$ and the coefficients of $u_{xx}^g$, $g\ge2$, in its first Hamiltonian density. This determines the original hierarchy up to normal Miura transformations. Combined with the construction of Hodge-class double ramification hierarchies by Buryak--Rossi, this establishes Hodge universality at nonzero dispersion.

#5 The kinematic structures and the inertial geometry of a moving charge [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Author: César S. López-Monsalvo

We ask how much of the geometry a charged particle moves in is fixed by its motion, and how much a particle must bring. We ask of a symplectic structure only that it relate velocity to momentum as Hamilton's equations do, and we ask it of every energy at once. In particular, we show that the structures meeting that demand are the canonical one and its twists by a closed two-form of the base. A field provides the two-form, a particle the multiplier before it, which we identify constitutively with its charge. Thus, a single energy governs a family of structures, and each particle takes the one its charge fixes. We then ask what a particle must bring to be given a momentum, and we show that the degree of that map settles the degree at which a field enters Newton's Second Law. An antisymmetric bilinear form returns no Lorentz force, whilst a Randers metric returns one --- a length whose difference from a Riemannian one is linear in the velocity. Moreover, we find that metric already within the twisted structure, as its primitive over a level of the free energy, and its law of transport to be nonlinear, no affine connection being known to serve. Under an indefinite signature the length parts from the dynamics, and the extremals turn from shortest to longest. On the round sphere a monopole flux leaves no such metric, whilst the transport remains and prequantisation, given a unit of action, restricts the charge to a lattice. In this manner, we conclude that each charge-to-mass ratio receives a geometry of its own, so that by a functionalist criterion none of them is the spacetime of a charged particle.

#6 Why we should condition denoising diffusion generative models on windows of past observations [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Matthias Morzfeld, Daniel Hodyss

Data assimilation (DA) is, traditionally, a cycling process that relies on time-dependent priors to propagate information from past observations to future cycles. Using denoising diffusion generative modeling for DA is challenging because standard approaches use a fixed training data set, which in turn leads to a static prior that ignores information from past observations. Because past observations are ignored, DA systems with static priors lead to larger posterior errors than cycling DA systems. Incorporating time-dependent priors into generative models, however, requires expensive and frequent retraining. Motivated by linear systems theory - where the dependence of a prediction of a Kalman filter on past observations decays exponentially - we condition diffusion models on short windows of past observations. Specifically, we describe training procedures for two frameworks: a diffusion DA system predicting the current state given a set of past observations, and a diffusion ``direct observation prediction'' (DOP) system, predicting future observations given a set of past observations. Using a canonical linear system, we show that both systems can achieve the minimal posterior error characteristic of a fully-cycled DA/DOP system, without re-training, provided the time windows are long enough. The linear setup ensures analytical tractability, avoids confounding neural network training errors, and confirms that conditioning on windows of past observations is required for efficient and accurate diffusion-based DA or DOP.

#7 Probabilistic representation and limit theorems for particle numbers of quasi-free states [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Fanch Coudreuse, Simone Rademacher, Oliver Tse

We study the particle number distribution of locally interacting bosonic quasi- free states, which arise in various areas of mathematical physics. We show that the particle number decomposes into an infinite sum of independent geometrically distributed random variables, confirming predictions from the physics literature. This representation yields exponential tail bounds for the particle number, a law of small numbers together with a large deviation principle at logarithmic speed when the lattice spacing diverges, and a central limit theorem when it vanishes. As an application, we obtain a detailed description of the statistics of the quantum depletion in Bose--Einstein condensates, with the constants explicit in terms of the scattering length of the interaction potential.

#8 A Time-Frequency Framework for GKP Codes [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Franz Luef, Eduard Ortega

We develop a time--frequency framework for lattice GKP codes in which ideal codewords are realized in the modulation space $M^\infty$ and identified, through a vector-valued Zak transform, with a finite logical fibre over the continuous syndrome torus. Multi-window Gabor analysis then represents the logical vector by a finite block of adjoint-lattice coefficients. We prove that the normalized block map is an isometry, obtain an explicit recovering projection, and derive stable logical reconstruction. We further construct normalizable GKP approximants as lattice-envelope Gabor multipliers and establish weak-$*$ convergence and asymptotically isometric encoding. Finally, we recover displacement syndromes from phase relations between translated coefficient blocks and quantify their stability under additive perturbations.

#9 Henstock--Kurzweil Gauge Integral in the Non--Gaussian Regime: A Machine--Verified Construction [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Author: Yuri N. Berdinsky

We develop a machine-checked construction of non-Gaussian functional integrals using the Henstock--Kurzweil gauge integral and Chernoff product approximations. The central object is a finite family of bosonic modes with action S(phi) = (1/2) phi^T A phi + lambda * sum_i phi_i^4, where A is positive definite. We prove that the one-mode integral I(omega, j, lambda) is finite, strictly positive, monotone and infinitely differentiable in the coupling lambda on [0, infinity). Its derivatives are given by convergent integrals of phi^{4k} with the same weight, not by the divergent perturbative series. The M-mode influence functional factorises into one-mode integrals and is bounded by its Gaussian value. A Chernoff / Lie--Trotter splitting handles the non-commutativity of the free and non-Gaussian generators. All statements are formalised in Lean 4 with Mathlib; the accompanying file HkNonGaussian.lean is free of sorry and uses only the standard axioms propext, Classical.choice, Quot.sound. Four illustrative applications are worked out at the level of explicit formulas: the Duffing oscillator, local volatility (CEV) in finance, Wilson--Cowan neural fields, and non-Gaussian quantum reservoirs. The construction is completely direct and does not use Wick rotation, Wiener measure, zeta-regularisation or analytic continuation back from imaginary time.

#10 Quantifying Symmetry Breaking [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Koji Yamaguchi, Hiroyasu Tajima

Quantifying properties of quantum states through the limits of their manipulation is a central goal of quantum resource theories. For symmetry breaking, the quantum geometric tensor governs asymptotic pure-state conversion, but a complete characterization for general mixed states has remained elusive. Here we fully resolve this problem for finite-dimensional systems under compact Lie group symmetries in the i.i.d. asymptotic regime. Specifically, we establish a single-letter formula for the optimal conversion rate between arbitrary states, with vanishing trace-distance error, in the resource theory of asymmetry. The rate is determined by a one-parameter family of quantum Fisher information (QFI) matrices that interpolates between the symmetric- and right-logarithmic-derivative QFIs. No state-independent finite subset of this family suffices in general, even for $U(1)$ symmetry, revealing a qualitative distinction from pure-state conversion. Our formula further yields an exact formula for pure-state distillation rates in terms of the generalized quantum geometric tensor, characterizes asymptotically reversible interconversion, and identifies bound asymmetry for quantum clocks. Complementarity among different members of the QFI family also uncovers an activation mechanism for quantum clocks. Our proof relies on two developments of independent interest. First, we extend quantum local asymptotic normality to unitary models with arbitrary rank and spectral degeneracy. Second, we characterize convertibility between quantum Gaussian shift models in terms of the same one-parameter family of QFIs. Together, these results provide an operational characterization of symmetry breaking for general quantum states in the i.i.d. asymptotic regime and reveal how distinct QFI constraints give rise to irreversibility and activation.

#11 The generalised semi-Clifford conjecture is false [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Nadish de Silva, Oscar Lautsch

The Clifford hierarchy is a nested sequence of sets of quantum gates that can be fault-tolerantly performed using gate teleportation within standard quantum error correction schemes. The importance of these gates has motivated numerous studies of their structure. Zeng-Chen-Chuang conjectured in 2007 that all hierarchy gates are generalised semi-Clifford, i.e. take the form $C_1 ΠD C_2$ for Clifford gates $C_1, C_2$, a permutation gate $Π$, and a diagonal gate $D$; Beigi-Shor proved in 2008 that this holds for all third-level gates. We construct a five-qubit gate that is in the fifth level of the Clifford hierarchy but is not generalised semi-Clifford. Rather than simply present and verify our counterexample to the generalised semi-Clifford conjecture, we show how its form can be deduced. Our counterexample also demonstrates that the Clifford hierarchy is not closed under inverses.

#12 Mathematical inverse problem for the world data inference of the parton distribution functions of the proton [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Author: Henri Hänninen

We show that the inference problem of constraining the parton distribution functions of the proton from deeply inelastic scattering data can be formulated as a linear tensor reconstruction inverse problem. This means that instead of fitting model parameters to the world data, a reconstructive approach to solve a system of coupled linear functional integral equations can be formulated. We leverage the mathematical structures of the integral equations defined by perturbative QCD and global analysis to pose the problem of global analysis as a coupled system of linear integral equations, and construct a proof-of-principle methodology to solve it. To formulate this approach concretely, we review all next-to-leading order accuracy results for inclusive virtual photon, neutral current, charged current, heavy flavor production, and neutrino deep-inelastic lepton--proton scattering. This mathematical methodology of inference opens a path towards a model-bias-free extraction of the proton PDFs from the world data of deeply inelastic scattering in the spirit of indirect measurement employed in mathematical inverse problems, including robust estimation of uncertainties with reduced bias from model parametrization, while closely adhering to the established paradigm of perturbative QCD and global analysis.

#13 Chiral Spin(7) Sigma Models and Topological Modular Forms [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Author: Xingyang Yu

We construct canonical chiral $\mathcal N=(0,1)$ sigma models on Spin(7) manifolds. The Spin(7) structure fixes the rank-seven bundle of the left-moving fermions, whose quadratic index matches the tangent representation, so the internal anomalies cancel while the rank difference leaves the gravitational anomaly of one right-moving Majorana--Weyl fermion. A transverse section of the left-moving bundle has a 1D zero locus with induced String structure, and we compute its class in the first torsion group of topological modular forms. The class is nonzero precisely when the Euler characteristic of the target is odd. The standard Joyce action on the torus has no internal finite-group anomaly and can be gauged to define an exact chiral spin QFT. We show that the orbifold Euler characteristic is even throughout the diagonal Joyce family generated by coordinate reflections and half-shifts preserving the Cayley form. By contrast, a free antiholomorphic quotient of the Fermat sextic is a compact torsion-free Spin(7) target with Euler characteristic 1305 and realizes the nonzero class.

#14 Moduli spaces of geometric functorial field theories [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Jacek Kenig, Dmitri Pavlov

We develop tools to compute moduli spaces of geometric functorial field theories as mapping spaces of equivariant simplicial presheaves. Given a d-dimensional geometric structure F, presented as a presheaf on the site of smooth families of d-manifolds, we define its Cartesian realization, which is an O(d)-equivariant simplicial presheaf on the site of Cartesian spaces. We use Cartesian realizations to present the moduli space of functorial field theories with geometric structure F as a mapping space between O(d)-equivariant simplicial presheaves. In a companion paper, we use this result to compute the moduli space of smooth one-dimensional oriented Riemannian functorial field theories valued in an arbitrary smooth symmetric monoidal infinity-category.

#15 Fourier decay of Gaussian multiplicative chaos and boundary geometry [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Marcu-Antone Orsoni, William Verreault

In this paper, we develop a new approach to studying the Fourier transform of Gaussian multiplicative chaos. We determine the Fourier dimension of these random measures on tori for every smooth log-correlated covariance and in every dimension, and prove sharp bounds and exact formulas for chaos on natural classes of bounded sets and hypersurfaces in Euclidean space. These results highlight how boundary geometry and multifractal concentration jointly govern Fourier decay, including regimes in which the boundary strictly reduces the Fourier dimension. In the circle setting, this gives a substantially simpler new proof of a conjecture of Garban and Vargas.

#16 A Geometric Theory of Quantum Entanglement [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Lorenzo Capra, Lucio de Simone, Roberto Franzosi

Entanglement Distance (ED) was originally proposed as a geometric measure of entanglement derived from the Fubini-Study metric on the projective Hilbert space. Independently, the Meyer-Wallach and Scott measures quantify multipartite entanglement via linear entropy. In this work, we demonstrate that these two seemingly distinct frameworks are mathematically identical for pure states of arbitrary finite dimensions. We prove that ED arises naturally as the trace of the Fubini-Study metric tensor over the local subalgebra of observables. Crucially, this geometric unification yields a direct operational interpretation: the global entanglement of a pure state is exactly proportional to the total Quantum Fisher Information (QFI) available for local unitary estimation. This bridges abstract information geometry with quantum metrology, demonstrating that ED dynamically quantifies resourcefulness for distributed quantum sensing, identifying Heisenberg-limited sensitivity in regimes where standard variance-based witnesses fail.

#18 Negative correlation for the random-cluster model below one on high-degree regular graphs [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Pengfei Tang, Zibo Zhang

The random-cluster model with cluster parameter \(0<Q<1\) is conjectured to exhibit negative dependence, but even pairwise negative correlation between distinct edges remains open on general finite graphs. We first show that restricting the problem to regular graphs of diverging degree does not essentially weaken the pairwise conjecture: validity for all such graph sequences, even when restricted to edge pairs at distance \(o(d/\log d)\), is equivalent to validity on arbitrary finite graphs. We then prove strict pairwise negative correlation for a broad class of high-degree regular graph sequences satisfying a two-scale edge-isoperimetric condition. More precisely, for every fixed \(p\in(0,1)\), all sufficiently large graphs in the sequence have strictly negative covariance between any two distinct edge indicators at distance \(o(d/\log d)\), uniformly in \(Q\in[0,1)\) and in the choice of the two edges. In particular, the result includes the \(Q=0\) endpoint, corresponding to Bernoulli bond percolation conditioned to be connected. The isoperimetric hypothesis is satisfied by high-degree expander families and, with probability tending to one, by uniformly random regular graphs of diverging degree; its two-scale form also allows product geometries such as hypercubes and fixed-side high-dimensional discrete tori. The proof is based on a polymer representation and cluster expansion, together with a geometric identification of the leading contribution to the two-edge correlation.

#19 Diffeomorphism Invariance of the Favre-Filtered Compressible Navier--Stokes System under Spacetime Dilation [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Author: Yuanya Li

We prove that the system of Favre-filtered compressible Navier--Stokes equations with subgrid-scale closure terms, written in the coordinates $(Lt,Lx_1,Lx_2,Lx_3)$ for an arbitrary parameter $L>0$, is obtained from the system written in standard coordinates $(t,x_1,x_2,x_3)$ by the action of a smooth diffeomorphism of the underlying spacetime manifold. The proof begins with a self-contained treatment of infinite-dimensional manifolds and the Fréchet manifold of smooth field configurations. We then define the one-parameter dilation group $\{φ_L\}_{L>0}$, verify that each $φ_L$ is a diffeomorphism, and compute its tangent and cotangent actions. The induced pullback action on sections of the configuration bundle is shown to commute with the total derivative operator, which implies that the first-jet prolongation of $φ_L$ maps the equation submanifold of the system onto itself. Equation-by-equation verification---continuity, momentum, and energy---confirms that every residual is multiplied by the common nonzero factor $L^{-1}$ (or, equivalently, is identically zero in the transformed coordinates), so that the solution set is preserved. We conclude that the family of systems parameterised by $L>0$ satisfies the diffeomorphism transformation expression and that solution spaces are canonically isomorphic for all $L$.

#20 The Quantum Composition Paradox [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Author: Jacob Biamonte

Quantum theory does not generally permit the probability laws obtained from individual unitary steps by the Born rule to be sewn into a consistent genealogy; we classify the exceptions and show that faithful composition can hold from an initial boundary yet fail after an internal restart. For finite-dimensional, composition-closed unitary families, universal composition holds exactly for unitary monomials, the phase-dressed permutations whose Born kernels realize reversible deterministic state machines. Prescribed sequences evade this obstruction. We classify all pairs of qubit unitary steps, give a necessary-and-sufficient criterion for pairs of qutrit unitary steps, and prove that a boundary-stable unitary sequence on a $d$-dimensional Hilbert space contains at most $d$ fully mixing steps, with equality in every prime dimension. We also construct arbitrarily long genuinely mixing sequences that compose from their initial boundary but fail after an internal restart, and a qutrit-controlled two-qubit realization with active interference. We define a Born--Chapman--Kolmogorov current that vanishes exactly when coherent and stepwise-checked endpoint laws agree, together with an associated measure of how many bits the endpoint reveals about the intermediate checking schedule. This state-machine connection provides a foundation for a quantum theory of music, in which unitary operations are notes and temporal boundaries are cues. Musical-transition prediction is proved PromiseBQP-complete, and the stepwise patterns that preserve a genealogy specify rules for rhythm, whereas the exceptional failure of that genealogy from an internal cue is the quantum music paradox.

#21 From Analytic Structure to Quantum Complexity: Walsh-Pauli Representations of Continuum Operators [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Raphael De Sousa, Partha Nandi, Francesco Petruccione

How does continuum operator structure appear in a finite qubit register? We address this question for analytic functions of diagonal operators represented in a binary basis, focusing on the Jordan--Lee--Preskill (JLP) momentum operator, by developing an operator-level generating-function framework for their Walsh-Pauli spectra. The construction determines the spectrum analytically and reveals exact support and parity selection rules, together with a nontrivial intra-shell hierarchy induced by the binary encoding. This provides a systematic characterization of Walsh compressibility and its relation to Pauli locality. As a controlled application, we consider generalized uncertainty-principle (GUP) kinematics as a tunable nonlinear odd deformation of momentum, showing how higher-order momentum terms redistribute spectral weight into progressively higher Pauli-weight sectors

More precisely, it is shown that any asymptotically flat solution of the Einstein--Maxwell equations in this class, with more than one black hole horizon component is either: Majumdar--Papapetrou, up to a duality rotation, in which case all logarithmic angle defects vanish, or every finite axis rod logarithmic angle defect is strictly negative and hence every interaction force is strictly attractive. #23 Modified wave operators for nonlinear Schrödinger equations in the full subcritical long range regime [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Jia Shen, Yifei Wu

We construct modified wave operators for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation $i\partial_tu+\frac12Δu=|u|^pu$ in the full subcritical long-range case $0<p<2/d$, with small, nonvanishing, analytic final data $W(x)$ with bounded logarithmic gradients. Previous results established large-time asymptotics for selected classes of Cauchy data. Moreover, the exact asymptotic expansion for $p<1/d$ remained unknown. When $1/d<p<2/d$, our result gives the approximation $$\frac{1}{(it)^{\frac{d}{2}}} e^{\frac{i|x|^2}{2t}} W\left(\frac{x}{t}\right) \exp\left[ -i\frac{t^{1-\frac{dp}{2}}-1}{1-\frac{dp}{2}} \left|W\left(\frac{x}{t}\right)\right|^p \right]$$ The wave operator is constructed by an iteration in the analytic spaces with decreasing radius. When $p\le 1/d$, we construct the profile from a finite truncation of a Fuchsian equation coupled with a transport equation. This profile still leaves a long-range triangular coupling whose terminal integral does not preserve the required fast decay class. The construction yields quantitative $L^q$ asymptotics for $2\le q\le\infty$ and uniqueness in the prescribed analytic asymptotic classes. The central new ingredients are a nonlinear final-state normal form that removes this long-range coupling and a mixed iteration in particular analytic spaces.

#24 Bargmann Invariants Are Insufficient for Complete Local-Unitary Orbit Discrimination [PDF] [Copy] [Kimi] [REL]

Authors: Lin Zhang, Bing Xie

Bargmann invariants constructed from a bipartite density operator and its two lifted marginals are polynomial invariants of local-unitary conjugation. We determine the precise information encoded in these invariants. Whenever one subsystem is a qubit, the ordinary marginal-word family determines the full spectrum of the partial transpose and hence decides whether the state has the positive-partial-transpose property. In $2\otimes2$ and $2\otimes3$ systems, this yields complete separability criteria. For the two-qubit system, a finite subfamily additionally separates local-unitary orbits, and a finite extension generates the polynomial invariant ring. These three tasks already diverge for qubit-qutrit states: we exhibit full-rank, locally maximally mixed states that agree on all ordinary marginal-word invariants yet have different operator-Schmidt ranks, together with a quartic correlation invariant that separates them. When both local dimensions are at least three, the analogous collapse on the locally maximally mixed sector produces isospectral pairs consisting of one separable state and one entangled state with negative partial transpose. The ordinary Bargmann algebra therefore coincides with the full local unitary invariant ring if and only if both subsystems are qubits. The missing data are geometric: they encode the placement of global eigenspaces relative to the tensor-product decomposition

The case on the critical line $2β-α=1$, with $α\in(-1,1)\setminus\{0\}$, remained open. We prove recurrence in this remaining case.
